Purple Caffe Fife

One of the main aims of Purple Caffe Fife is to be able to provide every child in Fife, diagnosed with epilepsy, with their own anti-suffocation pillow, free of charge.

Since the charity was founded, we have been raising funds to purchase these pillows, and thanks to our friends at telmenow.com, we have already been able to purchase 30 of these potentially vital bedtime accessories.

We hope to be able to alleviate the worry for parents of children with epilepsy when they are asleep.  It is estimated that around 45% of people diagnosed with the condition mainly experience seizures during the night.

• these pillows are made of a special material (open cell polyurethane foam) which will ensure that breathing is not restricted in the event of a night-time seizure;
• the pillows are deliberately firm, to reduce the risk of suffocation during a night-time seizure – no other pillows are required;
• the pillows come with their own machine-washable polyester netting cover, which won’t restrict breathing, and won’t absorb liquid – no other pillow cases are needed;
• the pillows reduce the risk of SUDEP (Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy), giving everyone peace of mind, and a better night’s sleep;

As such, we are committed to donating one of these pillows to EVERY child in Fife, diagnosed with epilepsy.

All you have to do is ask for a referral via your Paediatric Epilepsy team at NHS Fife, who will pass your details on to us.  Once you have signed up as a member of Purple Caffe (which is also COMPLETELY FREE), we will then contact you to make arrangements to have the pillow delivered to you.
